Questions still linger over whether there is a link between cell phone use and cancer or other, related health risks. To date, cell phone safety research is largely inconclusive or contradictory, since current studies have been only short term. Most people have been using cell phones for only the past seven years or less.
Yet now, a new survey says as many as 15 million American cell phone users are so worried over any potential risks that they've actually begun limiting their talk time. The survey notes that of the 107 million Americans who use cell phones, more than 40 percent say they are concerned about the radiation emitted from them.
The Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association recently began asking manufacturers to list radiation emission levels from cell phones. Consumers are also finding a solution in newly developed cell phone "shields," designed to deflect the harmful radiation away from the user.
