Textgram, the leading unified mobile text-messaging gateway in North America, has launched Textgram Pro, an information-alert broadcast system. This system will allow anybody to send out time-critical mobile alerts such as: news, updates, coupons, etc., to their own circle of subscribers.
With Textgram Pro's web interface, users can easily sign up new subscribers and schedule information broadcasts to their subscribers' cell phones. No programming skills are required for users to edit and send text messages out to their subscribers. Subscriber authentication is integrated into the product to avoid unauthorized use of mobile devices.
Users simply purchase a license on the company's website, and then design a subscriber sign-up page that is fully hosted by Textgram. This sign-up page lists all available information alerts offered by the user. Subscribers sign up by selecting the alert they wish to receive, and by entering their 10-digit U.S. and Canada cell phone number.
Textgram is also convinced that by allowing the general population to send out their own wireless alerts, it will help the text-messaging industry. In general, North American users still have not fully embraced text-messaging as they have in other countries where billions of messages are sent every month.
Stefania Pecoraro, who teaches Italian for beginners, uses Textgram Pro to send out a daily Italian word-of-the-day to her students. "It is perfect, they receive a new word that they can carry with them all day. Sometimes I even send them a whole sentence without a translation and I have them figure out what it means. My students love it, and it is an easy way for me to stay in touch with them."
Another user has decided to send out an alert to subscribers whenever the MTV show "The Osbournes" is on the air. This alert has attracted over 2100 subscribers in the first week of launch.
